Ode to Martha

This week, accompanied by my lovely husband, I got to go to a live taping of The Martha Stewart Show. The day started early (4am!!) and after a short train ride into NYC, we arrived at Chelsea Studios to get a first spot in line. We were seated in the front row and got to watch the Queen of Crafting herself tape "The Vegan Show". I'm not a vegan but to see Martha in action made my day. She is exactly as I expected her to be, professional, direct, yet candid. After the show, she stayed and answered some audience member questions, then was whisked away to get ready for another taping.

Here are some pictures from my experience.

I love Martha's book, Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts. There are so many projects I want to try in there. The stuffed menswear bunny is one I have made several times and given as gifts, but with a tweak. Emma helped create the first one I made by picking out the cutest Amy Butler fabric. I couldn't leave Reid out so his was made from a Riley Blake print. I love Emma's, but the boy version is my favorite! It is so hard to find cute stuff for boys. The pattern is super easy to follow and can be made in about an hour. Here are my versions. They make great gifts for Easter too!
