My Nana's Pizzelle Recipe

It has been one year since my Nana passed away and she has been in my thoughts every day since. She truely was the best grandma ever!
One of her greatest joys was getting to see her four great grand kids...
She loved to cook, craft and sew and I know she is looking down on me from heaven with the biggest and proudest smile on her face. (Remember 2 years ago, I couldn't even sew a button on!)

During the holidays, she loved making pizzelles and after she passed away I got her pizzelle maker. I can't wait to make them for my annual cookie exchange!
So in honor of my sweet Nana, here is her Pizzelle recipe.

Pizzelles

Beat 6 eggs well then add 1 1/2 cup sugar and 1 1/2 cup melted butter (3 sticks) Beat well. Then add 4 cups sifted flour, 2 teaspoon baking powder and 4 teaspoon vanilla. (Optional, 2 teaspoon anise extract) Add more flour to make batter stiff. Makes 100 pizzelles.

*You do need a pizzelle maker to make these and can buy one on Amazon or Williams-Sonoma for about $40-50.

Hugs & kisses, Nana! We miss you so much!! XOXO

Grazi! How sweet, my grandfather used to make cannolis, need to find that recipe! Isn't it funny how important food is in culture and keeping memories alive? We can pass those recipes on to our children and grandchildren. Great Post!! :)

That was the nicest tribute to your Nana. I enjoyed reading this and at this moment starting to make them. If you don't mind, I might snitch your idea to use with my mom. I just love it! Renee
